Colour Printing Price Drop!

Submitted by areimer on Thu, 2010-03-18 14:29.

Save Money!

Thanks to the steady use of the Lab's colour inkjet printers for Art classes, our overall printer operating costs for this budget year are lower than expected. To thank you, we are reducing prices until at least the end of the Winter Term. All ink prices have been reduced, so every job should see a savings. The regular access rules apply. Also, do take note of the class schedule posted outside the Lab (or on this web site), as we generally do not print while a class is in session (unless it is for that class).

Lustre Paper Now Available

Epson Lustre Paper package

In order to provide more photographic output options for students, we are now offering Ultra Premium Lustre Photo Paper in Letter size on a trial basis. This provides a less shiny surface than glossy without becoming totally matte. The cost is the same as the Letter-sized Premium Glossy Photo paper. We will consider adding additional sizes of Lustre paper if demand warrants it. (We have a few sheets of 17" x 22" available right now.) Let us know if you value having Lustre paper as an ongoing option.

Printing Works

Our large format colour printer is now back in service. We can once again accommodate glossy (photo) and matte printing jobs. Printing is available during regular business hours (09:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00 weekdays) when classes are not in the Main Lab.

Station Shuffle

Computers are moving!

We've moved a few stations around the room to better support classes and the like. If you have saved files only on a lab machine (and not, as we recommend, on a USB drive or perhaps our server), it may be relocated. Here's a map of the changes:

  • Station 16 has moved back to 19
  • Station 17 has moved to Instructor
  • The Instructor Station has moved to Station 17
  • New! Station 11 has been replaced with a new Mac mini

Make Sure Your Files Are Backed Up

People might delete your files

Recently, we have noted that some lab users are moving other people's files, sometimes even deleting them. For the benefit of all users, please follow these guidelines:

  • Please don't relocate other people's files — only Lab Staff should do that.
  • Let Lab Staff know if a hard drive is becoming full; we will delete or move files according to Lab policies.
  • All stations support USB drives; save your important work on your drive and take it with you.
  • If your class is taught in the Lab, you can take advantage of saving files on the Lab Server.
